June 24, 1939 - October 18, 2024
Cathy was born on June 24th, 1939, to William Harold and Ida Hind in Pipestone Minnesota.
She is survived by her children, Beth Haley, Walter Koenig and wife Janet, and Mary Lewis and husband Phil. Her grandchildren Joshua Koenig, Charles Haley, Angela Haley, Richard Bryans, Keith Bryans, Lori Ament, Terra Shea and Aaron McBride. Her Great Grandchildren Sean Haley, Nathan and Grayson Koenig, Joseph, Steven and Lily Bryans. Avery Ament, Edison and Benton Shea. She was preceded in death by her husband Leroy Morgan and and even though they didn’t marry the love of her life Jim Swinnerton her brother Robert Hind and sisters Carol Dietrich and Beverly Merk.
There are also many more that she called her kids. Many called her mom. Cathy never met a stranger and was always ready and willing to help if someone needed it. When she first moved to Iowa hill she worked in the bar, then she was a teacher’s aide at the Iowa Hill School that was a one room schoolhouse, and she was very proud of that. She would talk to us about the kids that she taught over the years and was proud of what they did with their lives. She loved them all. She use to get the community together to do clean up at the local cemetery.
In the beginning she wanted the community to get together at the bar to discuss community affairs and get to know one another so she use to do a potluck at the bar. As the years went on, she wasn’t’ working at the bar anymore and decided to just have get togethers at her home every Thursday and that was the beginning of her “Taco Night” that lasted for decades. This included tacos and all the fixings, a campfire and live music that she loved. She usually would make a cake and have ice cream for dessert.
She loved doing crafts, working around her property and Playing Yahtzee.
With her passing we want to thank the community for their love and support. She wouldn’t have wanted it any other way. Our family prays the community will pull together and keep this community strong with love, friendships and support for each other. That is the way she would have wanted it. We love you, Mom. And with your passing we feel your love through the community you love.
In the words of Catherine, ta-da!
