Austin graced the world with his presence, on November 7, 1995 becoming the source of immeasurable and unexplainable happiness for both his parents, Tammy and John Moore. Austin was not just their cherished son, but the very center of their universe. From the moment he entered the world, it was crystal clear that he possessed a tender and kind soul, with a heart of pure gold. His smile had the power to brighten anyone's day, and his presence never failed to bring joy to those around him.
Austin attended Placer Hills and Weimar Hills Elementary through the 8th grade. He then went on to Colfax High School, was a proud Falcon, and played on the football team. Austin graduated in 2014.
Austin excelled in any endeavor, hobby or craft he put his time and energy into. He was a jack of all trades, who was skilled in carpentry, construction, and almost anything that needed to be fixed. He was known as an incredibly hard worker and exceptional craftsman. His friends knew him as someone who could fix anything, at any time, and anywhere. He spent much time learning and honing in his skills working with his father, John.
Austin cherished his time in the mountains, where he enjoyed riding his motorcycle along winding trails and spending cherished moments together with his closest friend Cameron. In the winter, he eagerly visited the slopes snowboarding, and often honed his marksmanship skills at the shooting range. As a skilled martial artist, Austin found joy in the discipline and challenge of his practice. He also possessed a natural gift for playing the guitar, and was very talented musically. Austin had the heart of a true artist. Austin also loved his country, and dreamed of one day serving in the Navy.
Austin or “Oz” as his friends called him was a loyal and remarkably generous friend. As one close friend recounts, “I told Oz I couldn’t afford rent one month and he immediately offered to pay. I knew he too was struggling but sure enough the next morning there was $300 in my pocket. That’s just the kind of guy he was”.
In life Austin overcame much, but a part of his soul became irreparably broken when his extraordinary and loving mother, Tammy passed away in 2020 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Austin was dearly loved by his friends and family. The loss of Austin is beyond what we could have ever imagined, but we trust he is in a much happier place now, having joined his mother Tammy in Heaven.
The impact of this loss on family and friends will be felt for a lifetime, but Austin’s legacy will live on in the lives of those he touched as he graced us all so richly with his earthly presence.
