Paula F. Zeigler (89) of Attica, passed Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at the Bellevue Care Center, Bellevue from the effects of dementia. She was born November 10, 1927 at the Tiffin, OH hospital to the late William and Malinda (Smeltz) Bogner. Paula attended Attica and New Haven schools, and graduated from Crestline High School in 1945. Paula was proud of her 45 years of office work which started at age 16 at the Air Force Depot at Shelby, Ohio, where she worked during her junior year at Crestline in 1944. After graduation in 1945, Paula worked in the office at Pioneer Rubber in Attica. In the summer of 1947, Paula enrolled in a six-week secretarial course in Kansas City. Upon her return to Ohio, she took a job in the office at Mohawk Truck Lines in Tiffin. In 1954, Paula married Gerald “Bud” Zeigler in Willard, Ohio. In 1958, they bought a farm at Madison, MO, and moved there. Paula worked for Orscheln Brothers Truck Lines in Moberly, MO, for several years before she obtained a position at the Social Security Administration in Moberly in 1964. Paula retired from the SSA in 1989. She and Bud moved back to Ohio in 1990. Paula enjoyed crocheting, reading, shopping at thrift stores and had a love for animals.
Paula is survived by her daughter: Christine L. Zeigler and son-in-law: Tim VanHuss of Columbia, MO, niece: Susan Riisness of Blair, NE and cousin: Arlyn (Shirley) Williams of Attica. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband: Gerald “Bud” Zeigler in 2009 and sister: Geraldine “Jeri” Riisness in 2013. An expression of sincere thanks and gratitude is extended to the Bellevue Care Center and Stein Hospice for their compassionate care during this difficult time.
Private graveside services at the Omar Cemetery will be held at a later date.
