A lifelong resident of Big Wills Valley in Etowah County, Mrs. Ramey was born on January 10, 1932, and was very active in her community. She and her late husband, Bobby Ramey, ran a store in the valley for 25 years. Mrs. Ramey was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church for 74 years and was the pianist for much of that time. For many years, she volunteered through the Etowah County Extension Service as a member of the Duck Springs Homemakers Club, at Etowah Baptist Mission Center, and at Duck Springs Elementary School.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Beulah and Cleo Yancey; her brother, Edgar C. (Elizabeth) Yancey; her husband, Bobby Ramey; and her son-in-law Paul Hunt.
Mrs. Ramey is survived by her daughters, Nancy Hunt and Donna (Jerry) Nicholson; grandchildren Paula (Andy) Hughes, Jeremy Hunt (Deandra Little), Melanie (Russ) Gannon, Jason (Laura) Nicholson, Jonathan (Amy) Nicholson); great-grandchildren Madeline (Matt), Molly, and Emma Hunt; Anna Claire and Lizzie Gannon; Ava and Judson Nicholson; and Hannah, Sarah, and Abigail Nicholson; and niece Sherry Yancey Garren.
There will be a celebration of life at 2 p.m. on Sunday, November 3, 2024 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
The family would like to thank the staffs of Gadsden Health Care and Gentiva Hospice for their kind and compassionate care of Mrs. Ramey.
