Linda was the second child born to Orbia Hugh Garrard and Era Blondell Scarbrough Garrard. She grew up in a large, happy family in East Gadsden, AL. Linda was baptized at East Gadsden United Methodist Church. She remained a devoted Methodist all her life. She later joined Attalla 1st Methodist Church and loved being the nursery keeper for many years.
She graduated Gadsden High School in 1957. Linda married John "Johnny" Wesley Butler, II, from Attalla on June 6, 1958. They had one son, John Wesley Butler, III. Linda worked at 4th District Tuberculosis Hospital for many years and later at Vann Express in Attalla. Along the way, Linda and Johnny developed a real love for antiques and “buying and selling”. They owned several antique stores through a 25 year time period including Colonel John’s Antique Auction. Her last business venture was helping to open and run, 4th Street Mercantile in Attalla.
Linda is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Johnny, her mom and dad, and her oldest brother, Philip Garrard. She is survived by her son, Wes, in whom she took great pride. She is, also, survived by Wes’ wife, Tina Smith Butler, and their daughters Heather (Don) Harris, Emily Butler and Brooke Butler. Her surviving siblings are Janice Humphries, William David Garrard, Sr.(Carol), and Gail Petty. She was loved by many nieces, nephews and friends.
Services honoring Linda Ann Butler will be held Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at Morgan Funeral Home. Brother Bobby Bryant will officiate. Family will receive friends for visitation from 5:00 to 6:30 tomorrow night with the memorial service following in the chapel at 6:30 P.M.
