The graveside service will be at Bethel Baptist Church, Snead, Alabama. Rev. Sammy O’Dell will be officiating services. Pallbearers will be nephews and friends, and honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of Siberton Baptist Church.
Jim was born on January 27,1948 and took his heavenly flight on August 27, 2024. He was a U.S. Army veteran who loved his country and served in the Vietnam War. He was an avid bowler for many years -- bowling in leagues and participating in many tournaments. He retired from Goodyear after 30 years. Jim could strike up a conversation with anyone, anywhere, at any time, and always had a dad joke or story for you.
His greatest joy was serving his Lord at Siberton Baptist Church. He was Chairman of the Deacons and served on the House and Grounds Committee, in the Sunday School office, as a Trustee, and the Planning Committee. Jim’s kindness was shown through his servant’s heart for his church family and others in “Camp Sibert” -- helping others in ways that most knew nothing about. Jim was a 1966 graduate of Emma Sansom High School and graduated from Gadsden State Community College.
He was an only child and preceded in death by his parents, Earlie and Sue Reid, and his sister-in-law, Carolyn Gail Cohea.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Teresa, who was his high school sweetheart; son, Jimmy (Natashia) Reid, Jr.; daughter, Emily (Dodd) Allee; two grandchildren who were the light of his life, Josie Reid and Barrett Reid; brother-in-law, David Cohea; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In memory of Jim, donations can be made to the Building Fund at Siberton Baptist Church, 627 Jones St. SE, Attalla, AL 35954, or flowers will be accepted. Many thanks to the nurses and doctors at Gadsden Regional Hospital who took care of Jim and for their compassion to his family.
Rev. Sammy O’Dell will be officiating services. Pallbearers will be nephews and friends, and honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of Siberton Baptist Church.
