George Preston Gray III, “Preston”, 67 of Gadsden, passed away on Sunday, November 27, 2022. Chapel Services will be held at Morgan Funeral Chapel, Attalla, AL on Monday, December 5, 2022, at 3 P.M. with visitation at 2 P.M. until the time of service. Tommy Ferguson to officiate.
Preston was a Sales Manager at Bill Farley Pontiac, Inc. working with his father-in-law. He loved working with cars helping to restore and rebuild them. Thereafter, he was able to pursue his true dream of opening a Paint & Decorating business, first in Bluff Park, AL and eventually relocating his business to Santa Rosa Beach, FL. It was in Florida where Preston and his business thrived.
He loved the beach and the beautiful emerald waters of the Florida Panhandle. With coffee in hand, he walked the seashore daily in search of natures “little treasures.” His business helped to provide some of the beautiful colors that paint the towns of Seaside, Seagrove, and Rosemary Beach, Florida to this day and loved working with his hands to create indoor masterpieces with special painting techniques.
Preston had a servant’s heart and would help anyone who was in need. He was a faithful son, brother and beloved father who will be greatly missed.
Preceded in death by his father, George Preston Gray Jr. and sister, Jill Rosser.
Survived by his mother, Constance Gray; daughters, Ashlie Gray-Pierce (Chris C. Carter) and Chelsea Miele (Eric Miele); grandchildren, Delaney and Christopher; sisters, Teresa Johnson, Diane Papajohn and Susan Carter; nieces, Heather Higgins, Joy Shanks and Stephanie Tribble; nephews, John, Nick and Paul Papajohn and Chris Carter; a host of beloved cousins, great nieces and nephews; and special friends Lee Campbell and Mike Underwood.
Special thanks given to Lee Campbell for his friendship and kindness through the years.
