Howard married the love of his life, Delores Haynes Malone on June 1, 1956 and they were married for 68 wonderful years. On December 9, 1963, Howard became the Owner of Attalla Auto Parts, the business flourished and remained open for 37 years, until its untimely closure on March 12, 2000, due to total fire loss.
Pastor Dennis Hayes will officiate his Funeral Service at the Ruth R. Cross Memorial Chapel located at Forrest Cemetery, Gadsden, Alabama, on Tuesday, June 4, 2024 at 1 PM with Visitation prior to the service at 12 PM.
Howard was a graduate of Gadsden High School in 1953, and the University of Alabama in 1957. He was a Veteran of United States Army Reserves and proud member of the Pi Kappa Phi Fraternal Organization, and the Gadsden Quarterback Club. Howard was a lifetime member of the First United Methodist Church of Attalla, serving several years as a board member.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Eloise Malone; and his brother, Richard Malone.
Howard is survived by his loving wife, Dolores Haynes Malone; daughters, Becky (Doug) Morgan, Birmingham, AL; and Brenda (John) Gregory, Southaven, MS; grandsons, Douglas Malone Morgan and John Griffin (Joanne) Gregory; nephew, Shaun (Carey) Malone; and nieces, Peggy (David) Hayes and Deborah (Randy) Jones.
The family would like to express their love and appreciation for Shelly, Casie and staff with ACG Hospice; Christy, Felicia and staff with Butterfly Home Care; and Jamie and staff of Cherry Creek Village.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the First United Methodist Church of Attalla.
Morgan Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
