William Smith Ghegan (Bill) died peacefully at home on January 12, 2014. A native of Atlanta, Bill was the son of Glorana Smith Ghegan and Drury W. Ghegan, Sr. He attended Northside High School and graduated with honors in Accounting from the University of Georgia where he was a member of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity. Bill was known as a man of sincerity, dignity and quiet strength. He enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling and playing golf. Bill was blessed with a devoted family and is survived by his wife, Anne, with whom he shared many wonderful and joyous years, and two loving daughters Laura Abigail Ghegan (Abbey) and Bonnie Anne Ghegan. He is survived by: his sister Glorana Ghegan and her partner Lynn DeVault, brothers, Drury W. Ghegan, Jr., wife Anne, Thomas H. Ghegan and wife Jane, step sister, Susan Bradley and husband Bob, brother-in-law, Dr. Cornelius B. Thomas and his wife Dr. Michele Thomas of Birmingham, Alabama, mother-in-law, Frances Thomas and numerous nieces and nephews. Bill worked at Price Waterhouse for 14 years where he was a Senior Manager, leaving to join Turner Broadcasting where he was Vice-President, Controller and Chief Accounting Officer. He was a member of Kiwanis Northside, Cherokee Town and Country Club in Atlanta, Hole in the Wall and Royal Poinciana Golf Clubs in Naples, Florida. Bill faced his illness with the grace and integrity he embraced throughout his entire life. Private interment services will be held at Arlington Memorial Park. A celebration of his life and memorial service will be held at the Cathedral of St. Philip, 2744 Peachtree Rd., N.W. Atlanta, Ga. 30305 on Wednesay, January 15, 2014 at 2 o’clock with a reception following at the church.
