Thomas L. Glaze, Jr., age 94, of Atlanta died peacefully on Easter Sunday, April 17, 2022. He retired as a Merchandize Manager for Sears. Mr. Glaze is predeceased by his wife of 50 years, Margaret Ann (nee Davis). He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Thomas L. Glaze, III and Susan (nee Julier) and their daughter Lauren of Keller, Texas; daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Andrew G. Drexler and their sons Brian and Matthew of Atlanta.
Tom grew up on a family farm in Wilkes County, GA. During the Great Depression, the family moved to Atlanta where attended Tech High School. He was drafted into the Army at Ft. Sam Houston and served in Korea. He graduated from the Georgia Institute of Technology with a degree in Industrial Management. He worked for Sears Roebuck & Company.
On a blind date arranged by his sister, he met the love of his life, Margaret Ann Davis, who shared his love of good food, travel, Georgia Tech football, and spending time with family and their many friends. Together they traveled the United States, Canada, Europe and the Mediterranean by foot, road, train, sea and air.
Tom was an avid student of history, geography, finance and current events, reading two newspapers daily and multiple periodicals and books.
Tom was a true gentleman who lived his faith by his service to his neighbors though Junior Achievement, teaching Sunday School, various church activities, and by simply listening or sharing a kind word and a helping hand to those in need.
Funeral services will be held Friday, April 22, 2022 at noon at Embry Hills United Methodist Church, Rev. Jordan Thrasher officiating. Interment Floral Hills Memory Garden. The family will also receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on April 21st at H. M. Patterson & Sons- Oglethorpe Hill.
