Surrounded by her family, Terry Linda Miller Pierce, age 67, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 3, 2018. A native of Atlanta, Terry graduated from Sylvan High School in 1969. She attended the University of South Carolina and graduated from Virginia Wesleyan University in 1973. She was a devoted follower of Christ and long time member of Atlanta First United Methodist Church, where she served tirelessly.
Although Terry’s professional career was spent in the insurance industry, her life revolved around her family. She was more than a mother, she was an educator and protector who loved and cherished her five children with every ounce of her being, Jonathan Pierce, Justin Pierce, Emily (Luke) Killen, Aimee Caswell, and Jordan Pierce. She was more than a wife; she was the best friend and proud supporter of her husband, Wayne Pierce. She was more than just a grandmother; she was Gran, the most caring and adoring admirer of her two beautiful grandchildren, Lochlan O’Toole and Mackenzie Killen. She was the daughter of Larry and Dorothy Miller, the sister to Larry Miller, Jr. (and his wife, Melanie), an aunt, a cousin, a friend, and so much more to so many different people.
Preceded in death by her father, mother, son Jonathan, and cousin Cheryl, she was welcomed home with open and eager arms.
Terry truly cared more for the well being of others than she did herself. She celebrated alongside you during your most triumphant moments and consoled you during your darkest defeats. Your happiness was her joy, and your sadness her sorrow. She was a connoisseur of life’s most precious moments, loved to travel with her family and was infatuated by the world’s beauty. She was an avid reader, and loved all animals, especially rabbits.
Although she is profoundly missed, the void she leaves behind will overflow with the wonderful memories of her life, her undying love, and the auspicious impact she has had on us all. In the words of Emily Potter, “A hero never dies, but lives on forever in the hearts and minds of those who would follow in their footsteps”.
The family will have a visitation at H.M. Patterson & Son – Spring Hill Chapel, 1020 Spring Street, Atlanta, GA 30309 on Friday, August 10, 2018, from 6pm to 8pm. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Atlanta First United Methodist Church, 360 Peachtree Street, Atlanta, GA 30308 on Saturday, August 11, 2018, at 11am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.
