Mrs. Sharon Kelly Farmer died on Monday morning, February 25, 2013, of complications during treatment for a blood clot. She was 60 years young, and was born on August 5, 1952 in Atlanta, Georgia where she lived her entire life. Mrs. Farmer is survived by her parents, John and Doris Kelly of Atlanta, her husband William W. Farmer of Atlanta, her son and daughter-in-law Keith and Holly Royston of Atlanta, grandson Grant Royston, her aunt Katherine Timbrook of Punta Gorda, Florida, cousin Judy McCoy of Punta Gorda, Florida, two brothers-in-law, Quentin Farmer and David Farmer of Douglasville, Georgia and two sisters-in-law, Janie Penland of Mableton, Georgia and Katherine Farmer of Marietta, Georgia, and 6 nieces and nephews, and 5 great nephews and nieces. Mrs. Farmer was married 30 years to her beloved husband. She was married on July 30, 1983 at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Atlanta of which she also was a member and attended as a young child. She was active in her Community Group at Westminster. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Her three year old grandson, Grant Royston, gave her great enjoyment. She retired from Kelco Roofing in 2009, which is a family business owned by her parents and located in Atlanta, Georgia. She retired as Vice President of Kelco. She loved to read and was a member of numerous book groups. She had a wonderful warm personality. She also loved water aerobics, which she took at the Athletic Club, weekly. She loved to go sailing with her husband and could skipper as well as crew. She loved to travel and especially loved to go to the beach to which she had a special connection. She also had a talent for cooking and loved to entertain and fellowship with her friends. The sunflower was her favorite flower and she loved them in all colors.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2013 at Westminster Presbyterian Church on 1438 Sheridan Road, Atlanta, Georgia, 30324. Pastor Aaron Messner will officiate. Family visitation will be from 12:30 PM to 1:45 PM with the service following at 2:00 PM. Flowers can be sent directly to the church on or before the date of the service or donations can be made to Susan Koman Foundation or your favorite charity.
