Ruth Griffin, 95, of Atlanta, passed away on May 12, 2022, at The Fountainview Center for Alzheimer’s in Atlanta. Ruth was born in Washington D.C. to Eleanor Poole and Walter Gartner on March 23, 1927. She married James Griffin on September 8, 1945, in Washington D.C. She worked as a secretary at Dow Chemical for 15 years and at St. Martin’s Episcopal Church, where she and her husband were longtime members. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed gardening, music, and spending time with her family.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband of 73 years. She is survived by three children, Wanda Dukes and husband, Robert, Becky McGeehan and husband, Patrick, John Griffin and wife, Lisa, five grandchildren, Ruth Brown and husband Eric, Ashley Schnabel and husband Matt, Zack McGeehan, Lauren and Michael Griffin, and three great grandchildren, Reagan and Leighton Brown, and Kennedy Schnabel.
A private graveside service will be held at Arlington Memorial Park where Ruth will be buried with her husband. Ruth received loving care during the last three years of life at the Fountainview Center for Alzheimer’s.
