Becky attended Westminster High School. Finishing high school one year ahead of schedule, Becky traveled and studied in Coventry, England during her senior year. She went on to study French, English Literature and History at Yale University and also studied at the Sorbonne in Paris.
Becky was an accomplished piano player who loved traveling, shopping, and collecting cherished family mementos. Becky found joy in animals of all kinds, particularly cats and dogs, and especially her beloved Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Taffy Lee. Becky enjoyed summers on Saint Simon's Island crabbing and fishing. She was an avid reader and a lifelong learner, who also made time to volunteer at Nurse Care of Buckhead, at local children's hospitals, and at The Shepherd Center. Becky will be remembered by her beloved family and the many friends she loved so dearly.
Becky was a determined fighter who bravely battled Multiple Sclerosis for many years having been diagnosed in her twenties. She was a faithful believer and a member of St. Philips Cathedral and of the Cathedral of Christ the King.
Becky was preceded in death by her father, Dr. L. Allen McDonough, M.D. She is survived by her mother, Alice Wight McDonough; and by her siblings, Josephine Daffin McDonough, L. Allen (Tad) McDonough, Jr. (Maryanne McDonough), Wight McDonough Mixon, and Stewart Miles McDonough (Jenni McDonough). Becky also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, January 10, at 2:00 p.m. at The Cathedral of St. Philip, 2744 Peachtree Rd, Atlanta, GA 30305. A reception at the Cathedral will follow. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to your local Humane Society.
