Nancy Falconer Porter Godfrey

Nancy is predeceased by her parents Nancy (Simpson) and John Russell Porter Jr. of Atlanta and many much-loved aunts and uncles.

She attended E. Rivers School, Westminster Schools, and the University of Georgia where she received degrees (BA and MA) in Sociology. She worked for SunTrust Bank (formerly Trust Company Bank) for 34 years and retired in 2003 as a Vice President. She grew up in and spent most of her life in the Brookwood Hills and Collier Hills neighborhoods.

Her passion was her family, friends (young and old), and her church, All Saints’ Episcopal, where she was very involved in many ministries and altar guild that she loved so much. She was a welcoming neighbor and parishioner always looking to greet someone new to one of her many church groups and activities.

She is survived by her son John Munro Godfrey, Jr., his wife Claudia, and three grandchildren, Alexandra, Daniella, and Francesca of Acworth GA. Brother John Russell Porter III and wife Marcia of Kingsport, TN and Seabrook Island, SC. Aunt Catherine Tift Porter of Atlanta. Former husband John Munro Godfrey and wife Flavel of Jacksonville, FL. In-laws George and Mary Ann Godfrey of Savannah, GA. Nieces Elizabeth Godfrey-Cargile, Mary Katherine Godfrey, and cousins.

Nancy’s funeral and burial will be at All Saints Episcopal Church, 643 West Peachtree Street, NW, Atlanta, GA 30308 on Friday November 5th, 2021, at 11 o’clock, with a reception following at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation to All Saints Episcopal Church, Covenant Community 623 Spring St., NW, Atlanta 30308; The Salvation Army; or a charity of choice.
