Mary Verner Dutton

Mary loved her pets and her church. She proclaimed her faith in Jesus Christ at Gay Baptist Church in Gay, GA and served her God at Northside Drive Baptist Church in Atlanta, GA, where she was elected as one of the first female deacons.

Being a vanguard, she started her career as a secretary at the Virginia Supply and Well Company and later purchased the company, becoming their first female Chief Executive Officer. After retirement, Mary sold real estate, becoming one of the top salesmen in Cobb County.

She is preceded in death by her husband of more than fifty years, Earl Dutton; parents, Snowden and Leone Verner; her brothers, Jake, Terrell and Roy Verner; her sister, Lois Leggett. Mary is survived by her sister, Florie Kennedy, along with many nieces, nephews and Godchildren who loved her.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 5, 2017 from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm at H.M. Patterson Spring Hill. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 pm and will be conducted by Rev. Dr. James E. Lamkin, Senior Pastor of Northside Drive Baptist Church.
