Martha Nell McCrary Lanier passed away on Thursday, September 2, 2010. She was born in Jeffersonville, Georgia on March 28, 1921. Her parents were Dr. Walter Homer McCrary and Nell Griffin McCrary Norris. Martha was a graduate of the University of Georgia earning a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and was selected as a member of Phi Kappa Phi Honorary Society as well as Beta Gamma Sigma, an honorary business society at the university. She was a long time member of Peachtree Presbyterian Church where she was a member of the Martha Wilson Bible Class, a pastor’s aid and Women’s Circle chairman. Martha was married for sixty-eight years to her loving, faithful and devoted husband, James Fargo Lanier, recently deceased. She is survived by her two sons: Dr. John Palmer Lanier and James McCrary Lanier and his wife, Martha Ike Lanier; two sisters: Mary Yancey McCrary Clark and Corrie Norris White; three grandchildren: Elizabeth L. Storch, Lauren L. Mills and James M. Lanier, Jr. She was also blessed with eight wonderful great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held in The Martha Wilson Chapel of Peachtree Presbyterian Church on Friday, the tenth of September at eleven o’clock in the morning; Dr. Steve Huntley to officiate. The family will receive friends in The Parlor at Peachtree Presbyterian Church one hour prior to the service. A graveside service for the immediate family is being held at Jeffersonville City Cemetery on Friday, the tenth of September at three o’clock in the afternoon. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Gene and Martha Wilson Bible Class of Peachtree Presbyterian Church of The Salvation Army. Arrangements by H.M. Patterson & Son, Spring Hill.
