Terry was born October 29, 1952, in Chamblee, Georgia to the late Raymond Terrell Loyd and Frances Britt Loyd. He never let a moment go to waste. Honorably Serving in the U.S. Army as a Truck and Track Vehicle Mechanic, he earned the National Defense Service Medal for his work in Germany during the Vietnam War. After retiring from Dream Sanitation in 2013, Terry continued to put his unparalleled mechanical skills to use, tinkering on the farm at Randy Carden Livestock until his final days. A lifelong learner who refused to "rust," Terry's relentless drive and passion for his friends and family left an indelible mark on all who knew him.
Terry was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond Terrell Loyd and Francess Britt Loyd.
He is survived by the love of his life and wife of 19 years, Karen Loyd. His children, Anita and her husband Marvin Stewart; Nathan and his wife Erin Mayabb; Matt and his wife Jennifer Mayabb. His Sister, Annette Connoly of Florida. His Grandchildren, Chaz and his partner Mary Hight; Britt Hight; Lacee and her husband Chris McCombs; Dylan and his wife Chelsea Stewart; Jack Mayabb; Harper Mayabb; Zane Mayabb; Mareyna Mayabb; Molly Mayabb; Summer Mayabb. His Great Grandchildren, Oaklynn Rae Hight; Witt McCombs; Wade Stewart; Hunter Stewart; Kinsley Stewart.
A visitation will be held Monday, June 24, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at H.M. Patterson & Son -Oglethorpe Hill, 4550 Peachtree Road NE, Atlanta, GA 30319, followed by a funeral service at 3:00 PM. A committal service with military honors will occur immediately after the service at Prospect Cemetery.
