Margaret Herrington

Margaret Williams Herrington of Atlanta passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, January 07, 2012. She was preceded in death by her husband Linwood Elliott Herrington. She is survived by: Margie and Bobby Smith of Acworth, GA and their 5 children, Penny and John Rogers of Buena Vista, GA and their children Cindy and Terry Wawro of Lilburn, GA, Danny and Diane Rogers of Jeannette, PA; and Lynne and Larry Kuglar of Cedartown, GA and their children Gretchen and David Corbin of Rome, GA, and Craig Kuglar of Atlanta, GA. She is also survived by 17 great-grandchildren, 12 great-great grandchildren, and countless friends. Margaret was born in Lyerly, GA on February 10, 1916. She spent her childhood in Oxford, GA and attended Emory at Oxford and the University of Georgia. She was awarded the Carnegie Hero Medal in 1932 for saving a boy from drowning. She was a member of Grace Methodist Church, Atlanta Elks, Ladies of the Old Guard, and the Read and Fed Book Club. She was an avid bridge player and traveler. The family will receive friends from five until eight Monday evening January 9th at H.M. Patterson & Son, Spring Hill and one hour prior to the funeral service on Tuesday. Funeral services will be held at eleven o'clock in the morning on Tuesday at Patterson's Spring Hill Chapel; interment to follow at Oxford Historical Cemetery in Oxford at two o'clock in the afternoon on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Aidmore Children's Home, First Methodist Church of Cedartown or Buena Vista United Methodist Church.
