Dr. Lawrence Robert James – 70 – passed away on August 14th, 2014. Larry was born Sept. 22nd, 1943, to June Bramwell and Robert G. James. He received his undergraduate and doctoral degrees in psychology from the University of Utah. He had a distinguished career as an organizational psychologist at Texas Christian University, the University of Tennessee, and in two periods at the Georgia Institute of Technology. Among his many honors were Fellowships in the American Psychological Association, the American Psychological Society, and the Academy of Management. He held the Pilot Oil Chair of Excellence at the University of Tennessee from 1988 to 2004, was a member of the Society for Organizational Behavior, received the Distinguished Career Award from the Academy of Management (2003) and the Distinguished Scientific Contribution Award from the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology (2014). Larry loved music, traveled widely, and spent much of his time enjoying nature. He also passed many hours of blissful happiness reading and thinking on his front porch. He is survived by his wife Leslie and son Jordan, and leaves many students, family, devoted friends, and close colleagues behind. A memorial service will be held Friday, August 22nd at 11am at H.M. Patterson & Son-Spring Hill Chapel, 1020 Spring Street NW, Atlanta, GA 30309.
