Kathleen (Kathy) Marie Barrett, aged 67, died peacefully October 16, 2014, in Atlanta, GA, with her loving husband and three children at her side, after a courageous seven year battle with cancer. Kathy’s passions were her faith, family, work and travel. Kathy served her country in the United States Air Force. Stationed in the US and Turkey, Kathy earned a Medal of Commendation and met her future husband, Don Barrett. After staying at home to raise their three children, she started her career and, at the time of her death, was a successful principal at Aarons, Grant & Habif. In her lifetime, she took numerous trips all over the world. Kathy lived for her family and often traveled to her native Ohio to visit. In recent years, an annual beach trip was enjoyed by Kathy and her immediate family, the number of grandchildren growing each year. Kathy was a strong, caring, and selfless leader and mentor who always helped those around her, both in her personal and professional life. Kathy is survived by her husband of 44 years, Don; children and their spouses, Matthew and Maress Barrett, Michael and Natalie Barrett, and Elizabeth (Barrett) and Daniel Miller; grandchildren, Hannah, Elise, Andrew, and Lily; brothers and sisters, Sr. Angelica, O.P., Peter Armstrong, Eileen Strawser, Mary Hooker, Janet Mueller, Judy Armstrong, Jeanne Campbell, and Carrie Brandel; and numerous other family members. She is preceded in death by her parents George and Pauline Armstrong and brother Michael Armstrong. Kathy taught us all so much about faith and life and continues to do so. A visitation will be held from 2-4pm and a visitation and vigil will be held from 6-9pm on Monday, October 20, at H.M. Patterson & Son-Oglethorpe Hill Chapel. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30am on Tuesday, October 21 at All Saints Catholic Church in Dunwoody. In lieu of flowers, any memorial donations may be made to Cristo Rey Atlanta Jesuit High School.
