Carrie Harkleroad White, age 40, of Atlanta passed away unexpectedly on June 24, 2016. Carrie is survived by her husband, Blakeley White; her son, Henry (10); her son, Hamilton (5), all of Atlanta; her sister, Jill Harkleroad Greene (Jason Greene), of Evansville, IN; her sister, Jennifer Harkleroad Lim (Scott Lim); her mother, Caroline Harkleroad; her father, Don Harkleroad, all of Atlanta; as well as numerous cousins and relatives reaching from Florida to California. Carrie was born on October 16, 1975, in Atlanta and attended The Lovett School for twelve years. After earning a bachelor's degree in social work at Georgia State University, she received a master's degree in social work at New York University. Returning to Atlanta, she worked as a family services counselor in several surrounding counties. Carrie subsequently moved to New Orleans, LA, where she became assistant admissions director of the psychiatric ward of Methodist Hospital. Carrie then returned to Atlanta, where she has been working as a recovery counselor. In her work and her personal life, Carrie stood out for her exuberance, passion, loyalty and devotion to all those around her family, friends and her social work clients. Witty and unafraid to ask blunt questions, Carrie was known in her family as the sparkplug of constant spirited conversations. Exceptionally close to her sisters and parents, she spoke by telephone with Jennifer and Jill at least once a day, usually before 8 a.m., no matter where they were. Carrie's passion shined brightest when it came to her sons. Fiercely proud of her two boys and the happy, rambunctious household she created with Blakeley, she found great joy in family outings to the beach, ballparks and mountain getaways. A glass of wine on a porch with Blake while the kids played nearby was Carrie's paradise; a family movie night on the couch was her escape. Henry and Hamilton will carry her spirit with them wherever they go. A visitation will be held from 5-7pm on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at H.M. Patterson & Son Oglethorpe Hill, 4550 Peachtree Rd, Brookhaven, GA 30319. A memorial service will be held on June 29 at Northside United Methodist Church at 2pm. The family will receive visitors at a reception afterward at Carrie's father's home.
