John Jude Bruening, age 77, passed away peacefully September 16, 2023 in Atlanta, Georgia at the Terraces at Peachtree Hills Place due to complications from congestive heart failure. John, formerly of Lyndhurst, Ohio, Atlanta, Georgia and Sun City Hilton Head, South Carolina was born in Cleveland, Ohio on September 30, 1945. He was the cherished son of the late Gerard and Mary Ellen (Latimer) Bruening, beloved brother of Suellen (Bruening) Rich of Sun City Hilton Head, South Carolina, dearest uncle of Judy Hardt (Chris) of Atlanta, Georgia, loving great uncle of Thomas Hardt of Austin, Texas and Madeleine Hardt of Honolulu, Hawaii.
John was a 1963 graduate of Chanel High School and attended John Carroll University. He was employed by Picker International for 26 years as a medical site planner. He was an avid photographer, his family’s historian and leaves a legacy of his family history in photos. He had an extensive matchbook and mug collection from the many places he visited in his lifetime. He loved music, the theater and reading. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 20, 2023 from 5:30-8:30pm at H.M. Patterson & Son – Oglethorpe Hill Chapel, 4550 Peachtree Rd NE, Atlanta, Georgia 30319. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, September 29, 2023 at 10:00am at The Church of St Clare, 5659 Mayfield Rd, Lyndhurst, Ohio. Private interment will be at All Souls Cemetery, Chardon, Ohio.
