Jack Anderson Skelton of Dunwoody died Sept . 1, 2011. A native of Atlanta, he was born April 11, 1918. He was a 1936 graduate of Tech High School and received his Textile Engineering and Time and Motion Study Certificate from Georgia Tech. He was a WWII Navy veteran and a member of the Atlanta Lions and Elks Clubs. In 1950 he began work at Southern Mills in research and manufacturing. In 1960 he moved to Greenwich CT as their Eastern Regional Manager and was active in local laundry organizations in the Eastern Territory. He also served as the U.S. Director on the Canadian Laundry Allied Trade Association. He returned to Atlanta in 1981 as Vice President of Laundry Textile Sales prior to his retirement from Southern Mills. He was a former member of West End Baptist Church and a charter member of Greenwich Baptist Church, which he helped organize. At his death, he was a member of the First Baptist Church of Decatur. As an avid golfer, he was a member of the Dunwoody Country Club where he played weekly in the senior's group until age 90. He was predeceased by his first wife, Beverly Mason Skelton. Surviving is his wife, Miriam Cooper Moore Skelton, daughter Sally Skelton Pellew and grandson Christopher Pellew, both of Greenville, SC, granddaughter Lane Pellew of Memphis TN, two nephews, James R. Dollar Jr. of Newnan, GA and Benson L. Skelton Jr. of Tallahassee FL and two nieces, Sandra Fantle and Eva Breese, both of Tampa FL. The family will receive friends at 1:00 Tuesday Sept. 6 at Patterson Spring Hill. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 with Dr. Peter Rhea Jones officiating. Interment will be at Westview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of Decatur Building Fund, 308 Clairemont Ave., Decatur, GA 30030. Arrangements under the direction of H.M. Patterson & Son, Spring Hill in Atlanta, GA.
