of Decatur, GA, passed away Sat., Apr.
16. Flo was born Nov. 26, 1927, in
Lexington, MS, to Rev. Virgil Leon Bryant
Sr. and Ruth Hall Bryant. She graduated
Agnes Scott College and spent most
of her career as an elementary school
teacher in DeKalb Co. Schools. While
attending college she met Harry Agee
Hackworth, an architectural student
at GA. Tech from Knoxville, TN. They
wed Aug. 26, 1950 and were married
for 52 yrs. Harry and Flo were founding
members of Christ Church of Atlanta.
She was preceded in death by her husband
and brothers, Rev. Virgil L. Bryant, Jr., and
John T. Bryant. She is survived by her
son William Lawrence Hackworth (wife
Claire), of Stone Mtn., GA; daughter,
Leslie Garrett (husband David) of
Cartersville, GA, and grandchildren
Rachel Diamond (husband Barrett),
Jonathan (Jon) Garrett, and Mitchell
Garrett. She also leaves behind nieces
and nephews. Flo spent her last year
receiving excellent care at Peregrine’s
Landing Peachtree Creek, Smyrna.
Family will receive friends Wed., Apr.
20, from 6-8 PM, at H. M. Patterson & Son
Spring Hill Chapel, Atlanta. Memorial
service will be Thurs., Apr. 21, 2 PM, at
H. M. Patterson & Son-Spring Hill
Chapel, 1020 Spring St. NW, Atlanta.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests
gifts be made to Christ Church of Atlanta
or Peregrine’s Landing Peachtree Creek.
