Mrs. Evelyn R. Hewett, age 85 of Chamblee, GA passed away March 17, 2011. She was employed at Snapfinger Elementary School for over twenty years. During her retirement she loved to play bingo and she split her time between Myrtle Beach and her home in Chamblee. She had a big heart and was a strong woman. Evelyn was preceded in death by her first husband Larry Johns. She is survived by her husband of 31 years Clarence Hewett, sons Marshall Johns (Heidi), Barry Johns (Debbie) and Steve Hewett (Debbie), daughter Sherri Criau (Marc), brother John D. Cook, sisters Ola Outz, Blanche Jones and Bobbie Teague, 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be Monday, March 21, 2011 at 11:00am at the chapel of H.M. Patterson & Son Oglethorpe Hill. Interment will follow at Westview Cemetery in Atlanta. The family will receive friends Sunday from 3:00-5:00pm at the funeral home.
