Emily A. Hanahan of Atlanta died April 24, 2013. She was preceded in death by her husband, J. Ross Hanahan, her birth father Hobart D. Carson, who died when she was 7 and her parents, Dr. Allen Albert and Emily Davis Albert. Mrs. Hanahan was a long-time member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church and the St. Theresa’s Church Circle. She loved working at the Junior League’s Nearly New Shop and playing tennis. She was a member of the Piedmont Driving Club and was related to Charles A. Collier, who was mayor of Atlanta from 1897-1899. She is survived by her children, Dr. James R. Hanahan (Gwin) of Seneca, SC, Allen Hanahan (Cindy) and Emily Murphy (Bud) of Atlanta; grandchildren, Jane Swing (Dale), Ross Hanahan (Anna), Carson Chandler (Jake), Hunter Hanahan (Marina), Robert Murphy (Lindsay), Graham Murphy, Scott Murphy, Leigh Hanahan and Mary Hanahan; and 5 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 27 at 3 o’clock at St. Benedict’s Episcopal Church, 2160 Cooper Lake Road, SE, Smyrna GA 30080, a reception at the church will follow the service. Interment service will be Sunday April 28 at 1:30 at Arlington Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Atlanta Humane Society, 981 Howell Mill Road NW Atlanta, GA 30318.
