ELIZABETH DAVIS STAPLETON HILL, Age (88), died (Saturday, May 19, 2018,) in (Atlanta, Georgia) due to (complications of surgery). She is survived by two fine daughters, Lisa Stapleton Weldon of Atlanta, Georgia and Michele Stapleton of Brunswick, Maine, a good son-in-law, James Earl Weldon, Jr., and three precious grandchildren, Emma Davis Weldon, John Charlton (Witt) Weldon, and James Earl (Trey) Weldon, III. She was preceded in death by husbands John Horace Stapleton, Lewis Wilton Hill, and companion John Cook Nichols, all of whom helped make her life loving, interesting, fulfilling, and fun.
Liz thought her sister Shirley Davis Scott of Largo, Florida, her friends, relatives and her church, Spring Hill Presbyterian, where she served as an elder, were the best. She knew she was blessed and she enjoyed her life.
Added features of her life were her travels, including three years her family lived in El Salvador, her career of teaching and school psychology, and her attempts at new fields of learning, like yoga and the computer. She said she was frustrated that she never got to build her dream house, but she passed up the opportunity when it came along.
In her old age she often said she wanted to be remembered as a very contented old lady, a woman ‘who had lived.’
As per Liz’s request, burial will be in the National Cemetery and no memorial services will be held.
