Dolores Mansour Maloof passed away peacefully on April 11, 2024. A native Atlantan, she was predeceased by her parents, Sadie and George A. Mansour, Jr., her brother George A. Mansour III, her husband of nearly 52 years, Frank M. Maloof, Sr., and beloved son Frank M. Maloof, Jr. She is survived by her children Judy Maloof Winstel (Rick), Rita Maloof (Allen Harris), Laura Maloof Grunow (Bob), Pam Maloof, and Steve Maloof (Valerie). Also surviving are her seven treasured grandchildren who provided her with happiness and comfort throughout her long illness: Bobby Grunow, Sarah Grunow, Luke Winstel, Frankie Maloof, Anna Maloof, Amelia Maloof, and Stevie Maloof.
Dolores graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1947. Dolores and Frank were married at Sacred Heart Church in 1955. They were blessed with six children and brought them up in the Catholic faith. Dolores ensured each child had opportunities to pursue various activities, ranging from art and music to sports. She volunteered at St. Joseph’s Hospital for over 30 years as a ‘Pink Lady,’ working in the library, gift shop, and delivering flowers to patients. A lifelong skilled tennis player, Dolores and her Druid Hills Golf Club teammates comprised one of the early ALTA teams when league play began. She enjoyed bridge with friends and hosted numerous luncheons and bridal showers. Known as an avid gardener, Dolores was a member of the Breckenridge Garden Arts Club and was recently honored as a Legend and Lifetime Member of the Dekalb Federation of Garden Clubs. Dolores loved playing the piano and enjoyed listening to Big Band and Swing music.
Dolores’ greatest joys were her family and her faith. With humility and a quiet spirit, she modeled what it means to be a devout Catholic. She attended daily Mass, prayed the rosary, was an Adoration Guardian of the Blessed Sacrament, and served in various capacities at her church, Immaculate Heart of Mary, where she was a member for over 50 years. Her strong faith in God inspired those around her, especially her children and grandchildren. She adored spending time with her grandchildren, hosting Sunday family dinners, working in her flower garden, playing piano duets, and attending their events. She taught them to ‘do the right thing at the right time’ and stay rooted in their faith.
The family would like to offer a special thank you to our mother’s caregiver, Shae Caldwell. Her dedicated support and considerate care made it possible for Dolores to remain at home with her family, especially during this last year.
