Carol Williams Sellers died Sunday September 22, 2013. A memorial service will be held Friday September 27th at 10:30 a.m. at the Cathedral of St. Philip, 2744 Peachtree Road, NW, Atlanta, GA 30305. Born and raised in Columbia, TN to Sarah Temple Williams and Leonard Luther Williams, Carol graduated from Columbia Central High School. She then attended and received her BA with a major in French from Agnes Scott College. Upon graduation, Carol remained in Atlanta and immediately began her work career with Davisons Department Store. Carol advanced in several buyer roles which sent her to New York regularly as well as to Italy. Carol always exhibited an elegant sense of style and later enjoyed working for Atlanta women’s fashion pioneer Jonni Walker for several years prior to obtaining her residential real estate brokerage license in 1985. After several years with Buckhead Brokers Realtors, Carol helped found a prominent Atlanta real estate company where she spent nearly two decades serving a wide array of clients. Many of those clients became friends. People who know Carol recall her incredible spirit of generosity, loyalty, friendship and sense of humor. She was very active in her community as a member, and in some cases held board positions, of the Ansley Park Zoning Committee and the Ansley Park Garden Club. She was a longtime member of the Ansley Golf Club and the Cathedral of St. Philip where, for many years, she broadened her passion for music through her service in the choir. She was a skilled cook and avid reader and spent her life enriching those abilities through entertaining for her family and friends and through involvement with book clubs. Most of all, however, Carol had an unwavering love and partnership with her husband Jim Sellers who preceded her in death. She is survived by their daughters Temple Sellers McDaniel and Kate Sellers Stotts, her son-in-laws William Seth McDaniel and Eric Edwin Stotts and grandchildren Sellers Thompson McDaniel, William Seth McDaniel, Jr., Thomas Long Stotts and new granddaughter Katherine Semmes Stotts.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cathedral of St. Philip or to Lifelong Friends Award, Agnes Scott College, 141 East College Avenue, Decatur, GA 30030.
