Anna Louise Weaver Coulter, age 86, passed away on August 5, 2018. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, John Duane and Effie Mae Leard Weaver. She is survived by her husband, James Coulter; sister, Erla Seacrest; three children, Bob Coulter (Carol), Beth Ann Newton (Kyle), and Franklin Coulter (Cathy); and five grandchildren, Kristen Linthicum (Will), Maggie Newton, Jay Newton, Brad Coulter (Sarah), and Kevin Coulter.
Anna was passionate about working with children and serving her community. She graduated from Clarion University with a degree in Elementary Education and became a second-grade teacher in Tarentum, Pennsylvania. She later served as a preschool teacher at Chamblee First United Methodist Church and ultimately became the program’s Preschool Director.
She and Jim married in 1957 and moved their family to Atlanta in 1972. Anna and Jim joined Oglethorpe Presbyterian Church, which quickly became their Atlanta family and community. Anna believed deeply in serving others, and she devoted her time to volunteering at the Fellowship Mission, managing the OPC bargain shop and food pantry, helping neighbors and church members who were ill, leading the OPC preschool chapel, and teaching OPC’s preschool Sunday School class.
A service to celebrate Anna’s life will take place on November 17. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Oglethorpe Presbyterian Church.
