Angela Blackwell Kennedy, beloved mother and grandmother died peacefully in her sleep on August 5th, after a lifelong battle with rheumatoid arthritis. She was 76 years old. Angela was born on June 18th, 1938 in Louisville, Kentucky to Reed Arthur Blackwell and Evelyn Henley Blackwell. She attended Greenbrier Preparatory School, Hollins College and The University of Alabama where she was a member of Pi Phi Sorority. Though arthritis disabled her body, it only strengthened her mind and heart. Angela was a lover of life, and an encourager of people. Though she spent a large part of her life in Georgia, Kentucky was her home. She loved The Kentucky Derby, Hot Browns and Bourbon Balls. She loved politics, history, Sea Island, The Miss America Pageant and pigs. But there was nothing she loved more than Jesus, her children, and grandchildren. Angela is survived by her children: Kimberley Kennedy, Kathleen Kennedy Ferguson and Arch Kennedy, grandchildren Emily Reed Ferguson, Joseph Milton Ferguson, IV and Ryan Kennedy Ferguson, son in law Joseph Milton Ferguson, III and sister Janis Dyke. A memorial service will be held at the Kellet Chapel at Peachtree Presbyterian Church on Friday August 9th, 2014 at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in honor of Angela Blackwell Kennedy to: Arthritis Foundation Georgia, P. O. Box 78423, Atlanta, Georgia 30357.
