STONE MOUNTAIN, GA - Andrew Hunting Granger, 34, of Stone Mountain, GA, died peacefully after a brief illness on Monday afternoon, March 6, at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta. He knew that his parents were with him at his bedside when he passed away.
Andrew was born on November 11, 1988, at Baptist Medical Center in Jacksonville. Andrew grew up enjoying fishing, wakeboarding on the Ortega River, and lacrosse. Later in life he loved his time with his dogs, including Maggie, the family’s black lab, and more recently, Noodles, his Australian Shepherd. He also was a great cook and enjoyed comparing recipes with his mom. He was a bright and intelligent young man who was deeply loved by his parents, Harvey and Ruth Granger and his sister, Corinne Granger of Jacksonville.
In addition to his parents and his sister, he is survived by his aunts Susannah Sands (Keith) of Jacksonville, Janetta Whitlow (Lee) of Palmyra, VA, Corinne Davis of Richmond, Jamie Granger (Wes) of St. Simons Island and his uncle Matthew Granger of Valdosta. He also leaves behind his beloved nieces, Ruthie Edens, Lauren Edens and Carolinne Peterson of Jacksonville. Andrew’s family will always treasure the three days that he was home to celebrate Christmas 2022. Andrew was predeceased by his grandparents, James and Corinne Davis of Agricola, Virginia, and Harvey and Barbara Granger of Savannah, and his uncle, James Davis, Jr., of Elon, VA.
A funeral service will be held at Saint Mark’s Episcopal Church at 4129 Oxford Avenue in Jacksonville on March 17, 2023 at 11am. Following the service, the family will greet friends at a reception in Leatherbury Hall.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Mark’s Episcopal Church or the Jacksonville Humane Society.
