Born in Albany, Bill was the son of the late John Zeb Hargrove Jr. and Olga Faye Durham Hargrove. A veteran of the United States Navy, he retired as a Director at the Physical Plant at the University of Georgia. Bill had an interest in landscape design, the medical field, politics, UGA, football, and travel. He was an active member of Bogart Baptist Church and a University of Georgia alumnus.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by a brother, Stephen Hargrove.
Survivors include children: John Hargrove of Athens, Mariel Cuyos of Athens, Jason Hargrove of Beale Air Force Base, CA, Jerica Hargrove of Athens and Christina Hargrove of Athens; brothers: John Hargrove of Bangkok, Thailand and Robert Hargrove of Elko, GA; sisters: Dr. Cindy Rivers of Athens and Dr. Zandra Stino of Riverview, FL; two grandchildren: Liam Cuyos and Isla Cuyos; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 22, at 10:00 a.m., at the Bernstein Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Ted Tedder officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park in Athens.
