Our dearly beloved Wade, was a humble spirit, with a huge heart, a lover of people, who lived life to the fullest. He was a devoted and remarkable father, a wonderful husband, best friend, and soul mate whose presence will be greatly missed.
A native of Watkinsville, Mr. Strickland was preceded by his father, Walter Forrest Greene and his mother, Eleanor Strickland. He was a graduate of Oconee County High School, a local truck driver for Oconee Waste Transport, and a member of the Alliance of Divine Love Universalist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Melissa Upham-Strickland, daughters, Vanessa Upham of Anchorage, AK, Kortney Strickland of Winchester, TN, Kayla Strickland and Katrina Steinbeck, both of Watkinsville, GA; step-mother Sarah Greene of Bogart, GA; brothers Christian Adam Greene of Anchorage, AK, Jason Strickland of Watkinsville, GA, Forrest Jones of Washington D.C., and Michael Jones of Bogart, GA,; sisters Lisa Carson of Watkinsville, GA, and Sharon Anne Greene of Nashville, TN, and aunt and uncle Frank and Patricia Greene.
The family would like to offer a special thanks to the EMS services who responded, and the doctors and nurses of Athens Regional Hospital who all took heroic measures to try to save him. A special thanks would also like to be extended to all of his friends and co-workers at Oconee Waste Transport and Basic Wellness Center for all of the incredible support offered to the family.
A memorial service will be held 8pm Wednesday, September 29th in the Chapel at Bernstein Funeral Home with Rev Barbara Keating officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8pm prior to the service at the funeral home.
