She was born Patricia Sue Marshall in Americus, Georgia, October 25, 1925, to George Octavious and Martha Pryor Marshall, the fiercely independent middle child of five. She was a proud graduate of Wake Forest University, with a degree in English. After college, she worked as a journalist on several newspapers before joining radio station WDEC in Americus where she met and married Charlie. They owned and operated several radio stations together for many years. Sue generously gave her energy, talent, and business acumen to her daughters and their businesses. After her husband’s death, Sue moved to Athens where she enjoyed her family, gardening, politics, current events, and Mad Men. She will be greatly missed.
A graveside service will be held 12 noon at Oconee Hill Cemetery with Rev. Karen Redwine officiating.
The family requests that donations be made to the North Georgia Food Bank, 861 Newton Bridge Rd, Athens, GA 30607.
