Steven (Steve) Louis Kassay

Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Louis Kassay and Julia (Brenneis) Kassay of Cleveland, Ohio. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Nancy (Holt) Kassay, one sister, a niece and nephew.

He graduated from Lakewood High School in Cleveland in 1960 and Purdue University in 1964. After a year of graduate school at Tulane University, Steve joined the United States Navy, attended Officer’s Candidate School in Newport, Rhode Island, and then found his way to Athens, Georgia to Navy Supply School. The remainder of his active military service as a supply officer was spent in San Diego, California.

Steve and Nancy met in Santa Monica, California in 1971 and were married in Las Vegas, Nevada on December 21, 1972. They lived in the Los Angeles area until retirement in 2003 when they moved to Athens. Steve spent the majority of his career in the computer software business and the last 12 years teaching high school math. Steve enjoyed living in Athens but he never forgot those California years. He enjoyed traveling, especially his adventures to Asia, was an avid reader, and was always up for a lively discussion on most anything. He will be missed and always remembered with a smile.
