A native of Athens, GA, Mr. Hamby was the son of Jewell Lindsay Hamby and the late Carlos Clifton (Cliff) Hamby, Sr. He graduated from Athens High School and was a Mason. Mr. Hamby was employed in the grocery industry for many years before starting his own bail bonding business, Classic City Bonding and Services. He was a member of the Georgia Professional Bondsman Association and the Professional Bail Agents of the US; he co-founded the Food bank of NE Georgia with Ed Ralph. Mr. Hamby was a member of Young Harris United Methodist Church.
Survivors, in addition to his mother, include wife, Tracy Hamby of Winterville; step-son, Jeffery Miller of Winterville; daughters, Kim Ingram and husband, Jim of Watkinsville and Holly Green and husband, Chris of Bogart, and 4 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 2PM Thursday, May 17th in the chapel at Bernstein Funeral Home with Rev. Troy Tatum and Rev. Ed Ralph officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8PM Wednesday, May 16th at Bernstein.
