Penny was a native and life-long resident of Athens and graduated from Athens High School in 1971. She was a member of Athens Church and volunteered with Mercy Health Center. Penny was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
Penny was preceded in death by her parents, Jewell Harris and Gladys Riddick Parham; and sister, Jan Parham.
She is survived by her husband, of 50 years, Chuck Carson, of Athens; children, Josh, Matt (Amanda), Pete (Deana), Steve (Beth Ann), Beth Carter (Jared), Sarah Hill (Tyler), Rebecca Harwell (Gavin), Nathan (Heather), Drew (Sarah), Abby (Turner Spratling) and Mary Greene (Ryan), and 27 grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, December 20, 2022 in Athens Church with Pastor Sean Seay officiating. The family will receive guests following the service in the church.
Burial will be held privately.
