Mary Patterson Saunders

A native of Pavo, GA, Mrs. Saunders was the daughter of the late James E. Patterson Jr and Eula Ireland Patterson and was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Bradley Saunders. Mrs. Saunders was an elementary school teacher at both Bogart Elementary and Alps Elementary Schools. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, an avid bridge player, and a member First United Methodist Church of Athens where she had served as past president of the United Methodist Women.

Survivors include sons, Jeffrey Scott Saunders of Athens; David Bradley Saunders and wife, Connie of Lilburn, and Michael Wimberly Saunders and wife, Lynn of Winterville; daughter, Susan McGaughey and husband, Vance of Roswell, GA, and grandchildren, Erik Saunders and wife, Susan, Ian Saunders, Sarah McGaughey, Brad McGaughey, and Laura McGaughey.

Funeral services will be held 1PM Friday, July 12th at First United Methodist Church of Athens with Rev. Chuck Hodges officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8PM Thursday, July 11th at Bernstein.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to First United Methodist Church of Athens, 327 N. Lumpkin St, Athens, GA 30601.
