Mrs. Loraine Weathersbee Muendlein, 85, of Athens, Georgia died on Friday, November 1, 2024, from an extended illness. Loraine was born on February 24, 1939, in Athens, Georgia to the late Alfred and Grace Weathersbee. After retiring from a career of many years in the nursing profession, Loraine began working with Walter, after they married in 1992, at the Black Forest Bakery in Athens, Georgia until their joint retirement in 2005. Loraine enjoyed reading and vacationing with Walter as they traveled often to the beach, and also took several trips to Walter's native home in Germany. Loraine most enjoyed reading, but loved watching movies, cheering on the Atlanta Braves with Walter, as well as the Georgia Bulldogs with Sam and Will. Loraine was dedicated to her charitable causes, and she was a beloved wife, sister, mother, Oma to Sam, aunt and friend to many of the good people in Athens and the surrounding areas.
In addition to her parents, Loraine was preceded in death by her son, John Wesley Sigler and brother, Ronald Weathersbee.
Loraine is survived by her husband of 29 years, Walter K. Muendlein, of Athens, Georgia as well as by her son, William L. Colvin, of Athens, Georgia; her grandson, Samuel Wesley Colvin of Alpharetta, Georgia; her sisters, Brenda Christian of Danielsville, Georgia, and Lois Sullens of Alpharetta, Georgia, as well as her sister-in-law, Bevoline Weathersbee, of Athens, Georgia. Loraine is also survived by her three stepdaughters, Ursula Tolbert of Watkinsville, Georgia, Ingrid Moody and Tanja Cebula of the Tampa, Florida area.
Loraine’s funeral service will be held on Monday, November 11, 2024, at 2:00 pm at Evergreen Memorial Park, 3655 Atlanta Highway, Athens, Ga. 30606 (in the event of inclement weather the service will instead be held in the Chapel of Bernstein’s Funeral Home, 3195 Atlanta Highway, Athens, Ga. 30606.)
