A devoted Christian, she was a member of Athens First United Methodist Church and longtime member of the community Bible Study Program. She was at her best and happiest when she was giving of her time, talents, and resources to help others in need and epitomized the bible verse that she held so dear, “it is more blessed to give than receive.”
Jeanette grew up in Troy, Alabama. She deeply valued her southern heritage and was always a wonderful example of southern hospitality and loved to entertain.
She attended Troy High School and Auburn University where she was a member of Phi Mu sorority. She graduated from Troy University after marrying the love of her life, Braxton Bragg Rowe, Jr. in 1957. They were married until his death in 2002.
She was full of energy and spirit and immensely enjoyed being with her childhood friends she had known since the age of three. Jeanette deeply treasured her Athens friends whom many became “family” over the years. Jeanette loved her fellow neighbor and never met a stranger. She derived great joy from her dogs and her garden as she grew older.
Her community involvement included serving as a charter member of the Athens Cancer Auxiliary, she was also a charter member of the Salvation Army Board where she was recognized for 40 years of outstanding service and presented the Lifetime Service Award in 2016 by the Salvation Army's Women's Auxiliary. Additionally, she was a member of the Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary, Junior League of Athens, Rose and Dahlia Garden Club, and Rabun Gap Auxiliary.
Jeanette is survived by her two children: Julie Robyn Rowe, and Braxton Bragg Rowe III (Ali) and her grandson, Emilio Alberto Lebolo IV (Rachel).
