Jerry was born on August 25, 1950, in Marietta, GA to Neil and Peggy (Mitchell) Fricks. He graduated from Osborne High School (1968) and the University of West Georgia (1973).
Jerry loved his family and friends more than anything. He was a proud father, loving husband and brother, and loyal friend. He was very laid back, but in contrast was also the life of the party, loved music and loved to dance. He enjoyed telling stories about his family, especially of his daughters, parents, and grandparents. He was quite funny, quick witted, and always kept those around him on their toes. His great smile and infectious laugh frequently led to meeting new people and often had him catching up with old friends. Jerry loved rooting for the Atlanta Braves and the Georgia Bulldogs, mainly because both of his daughters went to UGA, but he also had a soft spot for Georgia Tech recalling fond memories of going to games with his father as a boy. He was thrilled that two of his favorite teams finally became champions again this year.
Jerry was preceded in death by his father William Neil Fricks, and his mother Peggy. He is survived by his daughter Neila (Michael) Grimsley, his grandson Henry Neil, and granddaughter Vivien Pierce, his daughter Brittney (Travis) Spilker, and grandsons Jacob Caden and Benjamin Christopher, his sister Ginger Power, his nephew Jeff Power, and grandniece Emma Power, his adopted sister Jessica Huffman, and the love of his life Beverly Butler.
A memorial service for Jerry will be held Friday, March 25, 2022 at 11:00 AM, at Transfiguration Catholic Church, 1815 Blackwell Road NE, Marietta, GA 30066.
