A native of Clarke County, Georgia, Mrs. Harrison was a daughter of the late William C. and Ida Strickland Jordan. She was the widow of Ernest “Ernie” W. Harrison, her husband for forty-eight years, and was preceded in death by a brother, Ben Howard Jordan, a sister-in-law, NeII Jordan and a niece, Patricia Jordan Scott. She graduated from Athens High School where she was an honor student and was a Home Economics major at the University of Georgia. She worked in the Clarke County Tax Receiver’s Office for many years and later was Manager and a member of the Clarke County Board of Tax Assessors. At the time of her retirement, she was a paralegal with a local law firm.
Mrs. Harrison was an active member of the First Christian Church. Church was an important part of her life. She served as a deacon and in the capacity of various committees through the years and was a Greeter each Sunday morning. She and her husband were charter members of the Mr. and Mrs. Sunday School Class, later known as the Joy Class. She was a member of the Athens Country Club where she was an avid golfer and a member of the Women’s Golf Association. She was also a very active member of several social groups.
She loved her family and friends unconditionally. Mrs. Harrison lived a full dignified life, marked by compassion for others. Always upbeat and outgoing, she could build instant rapport with anyone. She was a “people person” and enjoyed making people laugh. Her irrepressible humor left people feeling better in spirit.
Survivors include a nephew, Gary Bennett Jordan (Jennie); a great-nephew, Taylor B. Jordan (Katie) and their son, Ben Jordan; her late niece’s husband, Dean L. Scott; her late husband’s nephew, John J. Harrison, Jr. (Glenda); and her late husband’s nieces, Margaret Ann Thornton (David); and Bobbie Jean Holder (Virgil).
The funeral service will be held Wednesday, December 18, at 2:00 p.m., at the First Christian Church of Athens with Rev. Elizabeth Hagan officiating. The family will receive friends in the Grande Parlor of the church following the service. A private burial service will be in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Christian Church of Athens or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
