Born in Cleveland and raised in Brecksville, Ohio, he was the son of Eleanor Mason Anderson and Frank Mason and stepson of Adelbert Anderson. Chuck was a resident of Athens for over 40 years.
Aside from his family, University of Florida football, and UGA Gymnastics, Chuck’s greatest passion was music. He served as Director of Music at Chapelwood United Methodist Church from 1999-2009 and at Royston First United Methodist Church from 2009 until his death, and he was an active and vital participant in many area music groups.
In addition to his wife, Judi Mason, Chuck is survived by his brother Harry Anderson (Jane) of Cleveland, OH, daughter Suzi Kilgo (John) of Aiken, SC, son James Mason of Athens, daughter Julie Mason of Athens, his beloved granddaughter, Caroline Kilgo, several nieces and nephews, and by everyone who still has a song to sing.
A memorial service celebrating Chuck’s life will be held on Sunday, October 8, 2017 at 4:00 p.m. at Chapelwood United Methodist Church in Athens. Visitation will follow the service in the church fellowship hall.
