Charlie was born to James Andrew and Beulah Carter “Bea” Bulla in Fayetteville, NC on March 6, 1949. He grew up in Athens, graduated from Athens High School in 1967, and attended The University of Georgia. There, he was a member of the varsity baseball team. He was a veteran of the US Army Reserves, and owner of Dixie Upholstery, established by his father in 1960.
He will be missed by the family and friends he loved and who loved him back: his wife of 35 years, Linda Neese Bulla; sons, Britt Bulla (Paul Cirone) of Brooklyn, NY, Brad Bulla (Vera) of Athens, GA; daughters, Jamie Clement Parham (Jimmy McDonald) of Danielsville, GA and Robi Clement of Bogart, GA; brother, Kevin Tolbert (Mollie) of Perry, GA; three grandchildren; friends and co-workers, Diane Smith and Tommy McCloud; and the many friends who celebrated life and solved the problems of the world with him each day at The Hilltop Grille.
Charlie would tell you that he enjoyed his life, lived it well, and was always surrounded by good friends. With his big heart he cared about, and cared for, many people over the years. Everyone has their own story of Charlie–through those he will be remembered.
