Sharon enjoyed tennis and fishing. She was an avid poker player and loved to play online poker. She was ruthless in her ability to bluff and rarely had a hand she could not play. Sharon graduated from Princess Anne High School and volunteered for the Peace Corps in the 1960’s. She once met John F. Kennedy and could not get over the fact that he had red hair.
In 1977, Sharon married the love of her life, Mays E. Montgomery. Mays was a retired Poultry Farmer from Athens, Alabama who had already raised a family, but chose to raise another. Sharon and Mays bought a house in Jones Valley in Huntsville, and raised Jack and Cissy Stephenson… Sharon’s children. Sharon and Mays, with the help of Mildred Bayne (Sharon’s Nanny growing up) raised Jack and Cissy in Huntsville. As Jack and Cissy became older, Sharon and Mays semi- retired to Fort Myers, Florida. It was there where Sharon and Mays would eventually fully retire and reside.
The Funeral Service will be Monday November 16, 2015 at 2 P.M. at McConnell Memorial Chapel with Bradley Griggs officiating. Visitation will be from 12-2 P.M. at McConnell Funeral Home. Burial will be in Athens City Cemetery.
