Joyce Doreen (Maton) Sims

There will be a private Family Graveside Service on Sunday October 11, 2020 at Pleasant Point Cemetery.

Ms. Sims passed away Thursday October 1, 2020 at her residence.

She was born October 20, 1930 in Pana, Illinois to John Baptiste and Grace Maida Rasler Maton.

Ms. Sims is preceded in death by her parents, one brother Sonny Maton, and one sister Joanna Maton.

She was a RN, graduated in 1951 from the Julia F. Burham School of Nursing in Champaign, Illinois. Ms. Sims was a RN in Illinois, Florida, Mississippi and Alabama. She started working at Athens Limestone Hospital in 1961 where she retired in 1996. Ms. Sims was a member of the Catholic Faith.

She is survived by two sons, Lenny Sims and wife Julia of Athens, AL; Joe “Chip” Sims and wife Becca of Madison, AL; two daughters, Cindy Baker and husband Neal of Athens, AL; Johanna St.Amant and husband Heath of Ocean Springs, MS; seven grandchildren, Ross Sims, Dougless St.Amant, Shaw St.Amant, Rhys St.Amant, Ryan and wife Brooke Baker, Brent and wife Rachel Baker, J.D. Sims, and five great granddaughters, Piper, Tilly, Macey Joe, Norah, and Rowan Grace Baker.
