In loving memory, David Powless, age 70, went to be with the Lord on December 8th, 2020. He was born on March 23rd, 1950, in Vandalia, Ohio, where he graduated from Vandalia Butler High School, attended Bowling Green University and Wright State University.
David worked for Delta Airlines and Worldspan in Atlanta and Florida until he retired early to work toward other interests such as Facilities Director at Southeastern Bible College, in Birmingham, AL and home building in Huntsville, AL. He was always serving others in the church and neighborhood as an organizer, builder, and fixer of anything.
David was a loving, faithful husband, provider, and father. David and Karin were married forty-four years. In 1973, David received Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and is now eternally with him.
David was preceded in death by his parents: Donald and Elizabeth (Betty) Powless; stepmother, Phyllis Lutz (Powless); brother, Donn Powless; and stepbrother, Terry Lutz.
Survivors: wife, Karin Wright Powless; daughter, Kristen Fritz (Joel); son, Nathan Powless (Angela); grandchildren, Braden Powless, Lily Fritz, Kaitlyn Powless, Sophia Fritz, Garrett Powless, Georgia Fritz, and Leah Powless, Huntsville, AL; sister, Diane Roberts (Mason), Naples, FL; brother, Richard Powless, Decatur, AL; stepbrother, Larry Lutz (Marcia), Vandalia, OH.
Celebration of life graveside service, with attendance limited to immediate family, was held on Thursday, December 10, 2020, at 11:30 A.M., at Roselawn Cemetery, Athens, AL.
The family would like to thank the caring doctors and staff of Clearview Cancer Institute, Valley Surgical Associates, Hospice of North Alabama, McAbee Medical, and McConnell Funeral Home.
