Richard E. Van Orman, born on January 7, 1932, passed away peacefully on February 1, 2018 in Atascadero, California. He was preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Anna Van Orman, his brother, Donald Van Orman, and his sister, Hilda Little.
He is survived by his ex-wife of thirty-four years, Catherine Van Orman of Atascadero and her children and grandchildren; his daughters, Susan Hitchcock (Alan) and Nina St. Laurent (Dennis), granddaughters Kimberly, Allison, Chelsea, Amanda and great granddaughter Amiyah; his sister, Barbara Morrison; first wife Jean Van Orman, all of Massaschusetts; and his brother, Douglas Van Orman (Irene) of Montgomery, Texas.
Richard served honorably in the Armed Forces as a Corporal during the Korean War in the 3rd Armored Division. Richard was a finish carpenter and was willing to help anyone who asked. He loved fishing in his favorite spot, June Lake, California, and NASCAR racing. He will be laid to rest at the Agawam Massachusetts Military Cemetery.
